Zoom Video Communications has announced a range of AI-driven updates that will be integrated into its suite of products, including Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, Zoom Phone, Zoom Whiteboard, and Zoom Contact Center. These enhancements aim to improve productivity and collaboration for both individual users and businesses.
A key update involves enhancements to the Zoom AI Companion, equipping it with agentic AI capabilities that enable it to perform tasks such as calendar management, generating clips, and providing writing assistance.
“AI Companion is evolving from a personal assistant to being truly agentic, which signals a major leap forward in how AI can enhance productivity and collaboration at work,” said Smita Hashim, Zoom’s Chief Product Officer.
Expansion of AI Agents and Open Platform
Zoom is also extending access to AI agents within Zoom Business Services. In the coming months, users of the Zoom Revenue Accelerator will benefit from a sales-focused AI agent designed to boost revenue through automated insights, personalized outreach, and enhanced prospecting.
Additionally, the company is developing an open platform that will allow users to interact with third-party AI agents, such as ServiceNow AI Agents, or create their own custom AI agents to streamline tasks like sales RFPs, IT requests, and HR service management.
New AI-Powered Features and Industry-Specific Solutions
Beyond agentic AI capabilities, Zoom is introducing non-agentic AI features within its AI Companion, including:
- Custom AI avatars
- Real-time meeting and phone call summaries
- Internal and external information search capabilities
- Access to in-house developed Small Language Models (SLMs)
Zoom is also launching industry-specific AI solutions, such as:
- Zoom Workplace for Frontline Workers, focusing on on-shift communications and work management
- Zoom Workplace for Clinicians, which automatically generates clinical notes during in-person or virtual telehealth appointments
- Zoom Workplace for Education, which provides AI-generated lecture summaries and helps teachers create assignments with supporting materials
These updates mark a significant step in Zoom’s AI evolution, making its platform more intelligent, customizable, and efficient for users across various industries.
