Wipro Ltd, an IT services giant, announced on Friday, August 30, the appointment of Srikumar Rao as the global head of its Engineering Edge business line, effective from October 5, 2024. Srikumar will take over from Harmeet Chauhan, who is leaving the company to explore new opportunities. In his new role, Srikumar will report directly to Srini Pallia.
Srikumar has had a remarkable 26-year career at Wipro, steadily advancing through various leadership roles. Most recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Wipro Engineering Edge (WEE) and the Global Practice Head of Embedded Systems. His extensive experience includes working across multiple markets, providing specialized Engineering, Research, and Development (ER&D) services to clients in sectors such as software & internet, semiconductor, automotive, manufacturing, and communications.
In his upcoming role, Srikumar will focus on expanding and enhancing Wipro’s engineering capabilities. He will be charged with shaping the vision and growth strategy for the company’s ER&D Services business, with a commitment to delivering cutting-edge, AI-driven products, solutions, and experiences.

Srikumar is an active member of NASSCOM’s ER&D Executive Council. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the College of Engineering Pune and has completed his Postgraduate Program in Software Enterprise Management from IIM Bangalore. He will be based in Bengaluru, India.
On the BSE, Wipro Ltd shares closed at ₹538.20, reflecting a slight decline of ₹0.40, or 0.074%.
