Ahead of International Women’s Day, smartphone manufacturer Vivo has introduced ‘KanyaGyaan,’ an initiative aimed at fostering opportunities for young women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Given the growing demand for skilled professionals in these fields, addressing the gender gap—especially among underrepresented communities—has become crucial.
Bridging Barriers in STEM
The ‘KanyaGyaan’ initiative is a nationwide effort designed to equip young Indian women with the resources they need to pursue STEM careers. Beyond financial aid, the program provides mentorship, skill development opportunities, and industry exposure. According to Vivo, the project has already benefited 150 women, helping them overcome financial and societal obstacles to achieve their aspirations.
“Supporting young women in STEM isn’t just a program—it’s a necessity for true progress. Through ‘Vivo KanyaGyaan,’ we are dismantling barriers by offering education, mentorship, and career opportunities that enable them to take charge of their futures,” said Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy at Vivo India.
A Powerful Message of Self-Empowerment
As part of the initiative, Vivo has also released a Women’s Day campaign film, developed by FCB India. The film symbolically portrays young women “carrying their own chairs,” representing resilience, determination, and the ability to create their own space in male-dominated fields.
Amplifying the Message Digitally
To extend its reach, Vivo has launched a digital campaign emphasizing the importance of diversity in STEM. The campaign envisions a future where women have equal access to opportunities, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to innovation and global problem-solving.
“A world where women thrive in STEM is a world where progress benefits everyone. It’s not just about providing opportunities—it’s about unlocking untapped potential and driving innovation. When we uplift women, we pave the way for a brighter future for all,” said Ashima Mehra, CEO of FCB India.
