Uttar Pradesh to Establish Its First Semiconductor Park Near Noida International Airport

The first semiconductor park in Uttar Pradesh is set to be established near the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Greater Noida. The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the project, which will span 225 acres of land in Sector 10 and Sector 28. Three companies have been selected to spearhead the semiconductor manufacturing initiative.

Yamuna Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Arun Vir Singh shared with Local18 that 50 acres of land in Sector 10 have been allocated to Kaynes Semicon Private Limited and Vama Sundari Investments each, to develop semiconductor manufacturing units. Additionally, 125 acres of land in Sector 28 will be allocated to another company. The approval for these companies has been forwarded to the central government, with construction expected to begin soon. The progress of these companies will be closely monitored to ensure the project’s success.

Arun Vir Singh highlighted that Vama Sundari Investment plans to develop a semiconductor unit on its 50-acre plot, which is projected to create employment opportunities for 13,780 people. The plant is expected to produce 2.40 lakh chips per month, requiring 19 MW of electricity and 2,000 MLD of water. Kaynes Com Private Limited will also establish its unit on 50 acres of land, with similar infrastructure requirements. The third company, TURCK, will receive 125 acres in Sector 28 from the Yamuna Development Authority. Together, these companies are expected to invest between Rs 40,000 and Rs 80,000 crore across the three allocated sites.

Singh further explained that semiconductors, which are typically silicon chips, are crucial components in computers, mobile phones, gas tests, and vehicles. The development of this semiconductor park is expected to significantly boost chip production, which is vital for the automobile sector and other industries.

The ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict has led to global semiconductor shortages, causing delays in chip supply to India. The establishment of these semiconductor manufacturing units in Greater Noida is seen as a critical step towards addressing this shortage and advancing India’s self-reliance in the technology sector.
