Union Bank of India’s Chief Digital Officer (CDO), Rajnish Khare, has resigned after an approximately 18-month tenure, as disclosed by the lender to the exchanges on Saturday. Khare commenced his role with the bank on November 2, 2022, and his last day of service will be April 12, 2024. The bank attributed his resignation to “prolonged reflection on his professional journey and personal principles.” Anil Kuril, the Chief General Manager and Chief Technology Officer, will assume additional responsibility as the head of the bank’s digitization department.
Khare’s resignation letter expressed gratitude to the bank for providing opportunities to contribute to its digital transformation. “However, it has become increasingly apparent that there may be a misalignment in the organization’s expectations. This discrepancy has prompted me to reassess my professional trajectory and pursue opportunities that better align with my long-term aspirations,” the letter stated.
With over 23 years of experience in digital banking, Khare has been instrumental in creating “transformational experiences and capabilities for domestic and international banks,” according to the Union Bank’s website. He has expertise in digital strategy, technology, transformation, payments, and digital channels, among other areas.
Before joining Union Bank, Khare held key positions such as Head of Digital Transformation at HDFC Bank, Chief Innovation Officer at Citibank, Head of Direct Banking & Innovation at Standard Chartered Bank, and Head of Alternate Channels and Cross Sell at ICICI Bank.
