In an effort to strengthen the police force and enhance law and order, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the state government will soon implement advanced technologies, including AI-based control rooms, drone technology, and smart CCTVs. Addressing an official function, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of both the public and law enforcement personnel.
“Law and order is one of the priority sectors of our government. The status of a state is judged based on its law and order,” he stated.
As the Home Minister, Saha confirmed that these technological upgrades will be deployed at both district and state levels. Plans include the establishment of a new police headquarters and the modernization of East Agartala and West Agartala Police Stations.
Referring to a recent discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha noted the Prime Minister’s emphasis on reconstructing old police stations and residential quarters. He also highlighted the long-standing legacy of Tripura Police, which marked its 150th anniversary last year. “When people are in distress and helpless, they come to the police. Police personnel must work with honesty and strive to earn the faith of the people,” he remarked.
Saha further stated that Tripura is progressing towards development, noting that Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) have undertaken over 25,000 social initiatives in the past three years, benefiting more than five lakh people. Additionally, the government has increased allowances, including ration, dearness, and uniform allowances, to support the police force.
