Tata Group Plans to Generate 500,000 Manufacturing Jobs in Five Years

Tata Group is planning to generate 500,000 manufacturing jobs in the next five years, as reported by news agency PTI on October 15. The announcement was made by the group’s chairman, N. Chandrasekaran, who highlighted that these jobs will span various sectors, including semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, and related industries.

Chandrasekaran made the statement during the Indian Foundation for Quality Management symposium, emphasizing the importance of creating manufacturing jobs for India’s ambition to become a developed nation. “We cannot achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat if we cannot create manufacturing jobs,” he remarked, underscoring the need to accommodate the increasing number of people entering the workforce.

The targeted hiring initiative will be fueled by Tata Group’s investments across diverse fields. “Between our investments in semiconductors, precision manufacturing, assembly, electric vehicles, batteries, and related industries, I think we will create five lakh manufacturing jobs in the next five years,” Chandrasekaran explained.

He also pointed out that to meet the employment demands of the expanding workforce, India needs to create approximately 100 million jobs. This ambitious plan by Tata Group not only reflects the company’s commitment to driving economic growth but also aligns with the broader national objective of enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities and boosting employment opportunities across the country.
