SAP Confident AI Will Create More Jobs, Boost Productivity

German software giant SAP SE is optimistic that the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) will lead to the creation of new jobs, despite concerns about its impact on human labor. Muhammad Alam, SAP’s Executive Board Member for Product Engineering, emphasized that AI has the potential to enhance productivity, which in turn could generate more job opportunities. “AI helps us accelerate migrations and decrease implementation costs, further driving our business growth,” Alam said during a media roundtable at SAP’s R&D lab in Bengaluru.

SAP’s CEO, Christian Klein, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the increasing demand for developers in response to the growth of AI-driven business. “In India, your economy is so rapidly diversifying, and all of these customers need software; that’s the good place to be in tech,” said Klein. He added that while AI allows for faster and more productive software development, the need for more software development remains, which will result in a growing demand for skilled developers in India. Klein, who became CEO in April 2020, assured that SAP would continue to invest in India’s development workforce as the company scales its operations.
