Sanjeev Duggal has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Universal Biofuels Private Limited, the India-based subsidiary of Aemetis, a company specializing in renewable natural gas and renewable fuels with a focus on products with low and negative carbon intensity. Duggal will officially assume his new role on July 1, 2024.
Universal Biofuels operates India’s largest biodiesel production facility, situated near the eastern port of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, with an annual production capacity of 60 million gallons.
Prior to joining Universal Biofuels, Duggal held the position of Managing Director at NTPC GE Power Services Limited and served in executive roles at GE in India. He also has experience as Manager of Corporate Treasury and in Business Development at Cummins, a global leader in diesel engines and power solutions based in the United States.

In his new role, Duggal will oversee operational growth initiatives and lead efforts towards the IPO of Universal Biofuels. Reflecting on the industry’s potential in India, Duggal remarked, “Renewable fuels are experiencing rapid growth in India, with significant expansion expected to support the nation’s goals for energy independence, improved air quality, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.”
