Pixxel Secures $24 Million in Series B Funding, Totaling $60 Million

Pixxel, a space technology startup based in India and the US, has successfully raised an additional $24 million as part of its Series B funding round, bringing the total amount raised in this round to $60 million. This latest investment saw participation from new investors M&G Catalyst and Glade Brook Capital Partners, who joined existing supporters such as Google, Radical Ventures, and Lightspeed.The fresh capital will be instrumental in accelerating Pixxel’s plans to launch a constellation of 18 commercial hyperspectral satellites. These satellites are designed to provide critical environmental insights and support climate action initiatives.

Additionally, the funding will bolster the growth of Pixxel’s software suite, particularly its AI-driven Earth observation platform, Aurora, which facilitates seamless analysis and actionable insights derived from hyperspectral data.With this funding boost, Pixxel aims to expand its satellite manufacturing capabilities and scale operations for upcoming missions. The company has raised a total of $95 million across all funding rounds to date, positioning itself as one of the highest-funded space-tech startups in India and the leading hyperspectral imaging company globally.Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “This funding reflects the bold vision we’ve set out to achieve at Pixxel and echoes the investors’ confidence in Pixxel’s technological capabilities.

The new infusion of capital will help us launch more satellites quicker, transforming how humanity understands and acts on the challenges of our time.”The upcoming Fireflies constellation, which includes six satellites scheduled for launch in early 2025, is expected to deliver global hyperspectral coverage with a native resolution of 5 meters and a daily revisit frequency. This capability will enhance applications across various sectors including agriculture, climate monitoring, and resource management.
