The National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom), a non-governmental trade association, has appointed Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant India, as its Chairperson, effective immediately. He will succeed Anant Maheshwari, who has stepped down from the position.
Anant Maheshwari currently holds the positions of President and CEO at Honeywell, as well as Independent Board Member and Director at the Aditya Birla Group. Until August 2023, he served as Vice President at Microsoft India. His appointment as Nasscom’s Chairperson was initially announced in April 2023, alongside Rajesh Nambiar’s appointment as Vice Chairperson.
Confirming Nambiar’s appointment and Maheswari’s exit, Debjani Ghosh, President of Nasscom said, “We are living in an exciting era of digital revolution where technology has the potential to transform business, countries and societies in a manner previously unimaginable. I am excited to continue working with Rajesh in achieving a shared vision of India’s Techade. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Anant for his valuable contributions to the council and the broader tech ecosystem.”
Nambiar said, “I am honoured and humbled to support the Nasscom Executive Council as its Chairperson and look forward to working with all its stakeholders to continue to strengthen India’s leadership as the most trusted tech partner for the world. As enterprises accelerate their journey towards digitalisation, they will evolve into adaptive entities capable of absorbing volatility and building sustainable growth models with diversity and inclusion as a cornerstone”
In his new role, Nambiar will work with the Nasscom Executive Council, industry, and the government in strengthening the country’s position as a global technology hub while navigating the current volatile macro environment. Nasscom posted on x.com, “We are delighted to welcome @RNamb as our chairperson. We look forward to working together in achieving the shared vision of India’s leadership as the most trusted tech partner for the world.”
