Microsoft (MSFT) has made an equity investment in Veeam Software to advance the development of artificial intelligence-driven data resilience solutions, the companies announced on Tuesday. This partnership aims to strengthen cybersecurity and simplify data recovery for businesses by integrating Microsoft’s AI capabilities into Veeam’s data protection services.
Veeam, known for its backup and recovery solutions, stated that this collaboration will help clients identify risks, streamline compliance, and accelerate recovery efforts. Currently, 73% of Fortune 500 companies and 67% of Global 2000 enterprises rely on Veeam’s data protection platform. By incorporating Microsoft’s AI technologies, the company expects to bolster backup security, improve the detection of suspicious activities, and enhance data recovery speeds.
Additionally, Microsoft’s machine learning tools will be integrated into Veeam’s cloud-based services, including Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 and Veeam Data Cloud Vault, both of which offer backup and disaster recovery solutions through Microsoft Azure.
Jason Graefe, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Independent Software Vendors and Digital Natives, highlighted the benefits of the collaboration, stating that merging Microsoft AI with Veeam’s offerings will allow businesses to safeguard their data while gaining valuable operational insights.
Veeam, headquartered in Seattle, provides backup and security services for cloud, virtual, physical, and Kubernetes environments. The financial details of the investment were not disclosed.
