HSBC names Georges Elhedery as the next Group Chief Executive

HSBC has appointed Georges Elhedery as the next Group Chief Executive, effective September 2, succeeding Noel Quinn, who will retire on the same date. Prior to this role, Georges served as Group Chief Financial Officer after joining the board in early 2023.

Having been with HSBC since 2005, Georges brings nearly three decades of experience in high-profile international roles within financial services.

“Georges is an outstanding leader and banker who deeply cares about the Bank, our customers, and our employees. He has a proven track record in navigating change, driving growth, streamlining operations, controlling costs, and maintaining a strong focus on execution,” said Sir Mark Tucker, Group Chairman of HSBC.

Georges added, “Collaborating with our talented team, I am eager to deliver exceptional value to our clients and investors by driving strong performance and sustainable growth.”
