Freshworks Appoints Murali Swaminathan as New Chief Technology Officer

US-based SaaS leader Freshworks announced on Tuesday that Murali Swaminathan has been appointed as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In this role, Murali will be responsible for steering the company’s technology strategy and roadmap, leading global engineering and architecture teams, according to a company statement.

This appointment highlights Freshworks’ commitment to investing in talent and resources to enhance both employee and customer experience solutions. Murali will join the company’s executive management team and report directly to CEO and President Dennis Woodside.

Murali Swaminathan holds a master’s degree in Software Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in electronics and instrumentation from Annamalai University in India. With over three decades of experience in software engineering and leadership, he brings a wealth of expertise to Freshworks.

Before joining Freshworks, Murali was Vice President of Engineering at ServiceNow, where he played a key role in managing the company’s flagship IT Service Management and Strategic Portfolio Management products, ensuring they scaled to meet the needs of large enterprises. He was also instrumental in building the modern application architecture that underpins these market-leading solutions.

Murali’s career also includes leadership roles at Recommind (now part of OpenText) and CA Technologies (now under Broadcom Inc.), where he was a driving force in advancing enterprise software solutions.
