Vietnam’s leading tech company, FPT, and its subsidiaries have begun construction on a $174 million artificial intelligence project in the south-central Binh Dinh province, marking the company’s latest effort to capitalize on the AI sector. FPT announced this development on Wednesday.
The project, spearheaded by a consortium including FPT City Danang, FPT Investment, and FPT Software, spans 93.24 hectares, according to the company’s statement. The development will feature an AI center, an education zone, and a supporting urban area. The AI center will be dedicated to research, software production, digital transformation support, and cybersecurity solutions.
FPT is Vietnam’s most valuable tech company, with a market capitalization of $7.7 billion on the Ho Chi Minh City stock exchange. The company provides a range of AI, cloud, and big data services, and its total revenues surpassed $2 billion last year.
In April, FPT revealed plans to build a $200 million AI factory using Nvidia’s graphics chips and software.
