Dixon Technologies and Vivo India have announced a strategic joint venture to enhance the production of electronic devices, including smartphones, through the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) model. This partnership represents a major milestone in bolstering local manufacturing within India’s rapidly expanding electronics market.
According to the agreement, Dixon Technologies will hold a majority 51% stake, while Vivo India will own the remaining 49%. Despite the collaboration, both companies have emphasized their commitment to maintaining independent operations with no cross-ownership.
The joint venture will initially focus on manufacturing a portion of Vivo’s smartphone orders within India. Additionally, the partnership seeks to diversify by producing OEM products for other brands, expanding its reach and capabilities in the electronics sector.
The agreement remains subject to regulatory approvals and the finalization of definitive agreements. This initiative aligns with India’s push for greater self-reliance in manufacturing and is expected to contribute significantly to the domestic production ecosystem.
