A major cyberattack has severely impacted the IT infrastructure of Uttarakhand, halting government operations across the state. For the second day, on October 4, administrative work has been stalled, including critical services at the Secretariat. The cyberattack caused a complete shutdown of essential government websites and services, such as the CM Helpline, Land Registry, and e-Office, disrupting operations statewide.
Nikita Khandelwal, Director of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA), spoke to the media about the situation, stating, “During scanning on October 2, it was found that the machine has been affected by malware, so as a precaution we have shut down our data centre, due to which all applications have been shut down and all are being scanned.”
Efforts are being made to restore the system by the following morning after thorough testing. Khandelwal also mentioned that 186 government websites have been affected by the cyberattack.
