The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has announced the appointment of Ramesh Gurram as its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). With over two decades of experience in technology and information security, Gurram brings a wealth of expertise to his role at BSE, further strengthening the exchange’s cybersecurity framework.
Before joining BSE, Gurram served as the CISO at the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. (MCX), where he was instrumental in establishing the organization’s information security department from the ground up. During his time at MCX, he led the creation of a cutting-edge Cyber Security Operations Centre and implemented comprehensive governance, risk, and compliance management processes. Gurram also ensured the company’s adherence to both national and international cybersecurity regulations.
In addition to his experience at MCX, Gurram held senior positions in the banking sector. At Bank of Baroda, he served as the Chief Information Security Manager, overseeing secure digital transformation initiatives and strengthening the bank’s compliance frameworks. At the State Bank of India, he managed cybersecurity audits, data governance, and digital forensics.
Gurram’s career began with the Indian Air Force, where he spent 20 years managing IT and security operations, disaster recovery, and conducting security assessments. His extensive background in both the military and financial services sectors makes him a valuable asset to BSE as it continues to bolster its cybersecurity capabilities.
