On August 29, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu outlined an ambitious plan to transform Amaravati into a leading city in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This initiative is part of Naidu’s broader vision to position Amaravati as a cutting-edge, sustainable capital city, a concept introduced when the state was bifurcated and Amaravati was designated as the new capital.
Naidu, known for his forward-thinking approach, has previously demonstrated his visionary leadership through successful projects such as the development of Cyberabad and the establishment of Microsoft’s office in Hyderabad. His tenure also saw the introduction of the Indian School of Business (ISB) to Hyderabad, reflecting his commitment to fostering technological and educational advancements.
In his recent directive, Naidu emphasized the need for the Amaravati logo to incorporate the letters “A” and “I,” symbolizing Artificial Intelligence. He stressed that this branding should reflect the city’s commitment to incorporating the latest technologies in its development. Naidu underscored the necessity of leveraging AI and advanced technology to enhance the city’s infrastructure and facilities, making it a pioneering center for innovation.
During a review meeting attended by Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and officials from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), Naidu reiterated his vision for Amaravati. He called for a technological overhaul to ensure that advanced technology is integrated throughout the city. He described Amaravati as “the capital of the Gods” and criticized the previous administration for its mismanagement, which he claimed hindered the capital’s development.
Naidu addressed the slow progress of key projects, including the CRDA office building, which had seen no advancement in the past five years due to prior neglect. He mandated that the construction of this building, designed as a G+7 structure, be completed within the next 90 days, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high construction standards and utilizing the latest technologies.
Furthermore, Naidu noted that 3,558 acres are still required for the capital area. He highlighted that farmers are willing to contribute their lands, but there are issues with plot allotment that need resolution. Naidu instructed officials to address these challenges promptly. Additionally, with 60% of jungle clearance in the capital region completed, he advised the use of drones to monitor and manage this process effectively.
Overall, Naidu’s vision for Amaravati as an AI hub represents a significant step towards modernizing the city and establishing it as a global center of technological excellence. His proactive measures aim to rectify past delays and ensure that the city is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure, setting a benchmark for future urban development.
