Andhra Pradesh Aims for $2 Trillion Economy by 2047, Says CM Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Tuesday that his government is committed to transforming the state into a $2-trillion economy by 2047, targeting an annual growth rate of 15% in gross state domestic product (GSDP). This ambitious goal is part of the state’s Viksit Andhra Pradesh-2047 action plan. Naidu made these remarks during a meeting with representatives from NITI Aayog, the central government’s apex policy think tank, held at the state secretariat in Amaravati. The discussion focused on the modalities of formulating the Viksit Andhra Pradesh document, which aligns with the Union government’s Viksit Bharat (Developed India) agenda.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has indicated that the state government intends to unveil the vision document for Viksit Andhra Pradesh on October 2, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to preside over the event. “The Viksit Andhra Pradesh-2047 will be an integral part of the Viksit Bharat-2047 initiative of the Centre,” Prasad noted during a meeting on August 21 with key state officials, including special chief secretaries and department heads.

In his discussion with NITI Aayog members, Naidu emphasized that the vision document would outline strategies for poverty eradication and overall development of the state. “We are adopting the macro-to-micro method to achieve the objectives. While there would be a broad strategy at the state level, vision documents would be developed at the district level and then at the mandal level (block level),” he explained.

These district-level vision documents would serve as provisional blueprints for local development. “We shall prepare five-year vision documents at the district level,” Naidu added.

The Chief Minister also shared with NITI Aayog members that his TDP-BJP-JanaSena alliance government aims to make Andhra Pradesh a hub for high-value agri-processing, industries, logistics, and renewable energy. An action plan is being developed to enhance youth skills and prepare them for employment, he noted. Additionally, Naidu revealed plans to establish Andhra Pradesh as an international tourist destination. “Different districts of the state would be developed into growth centers, and efforts are underway to create modern medical facilities for the people,” the CM said. He also highlighted the steps being taken to make Andhra Pradesh a model for other states in digital governance and economic development.
