Alok Verma has been appointed as the Director In-Charge of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a premier unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). This elevation marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, spanning over three decades of dedicated service to SAIL. Verma’s exceptional contributions to operational advancements and resource optimization have earned him this pivotal leadership role.
Verma commenced his journey at SAIL in 1991 as a Management Trainee at Bokaro Steel Plant, leveraging his Mechanical Engineering degree from BIT Sindri. Over the years, he has demonstrated a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic acumen, propelling the organization toward greater efficiency and innovation. His tenure as Executive Director overseeing the Mines of RSP was marked by remarkable achievements, including the revival of manganese mining at Bolani after a 40-year hiatus and record-breaking iron ore production by the Odisha Group of Mines.
Under Verma’s leadership, the integration of the Odisha Group of Mines with RSP has been a key highlight. This strategic alignment not only streamlined operations but also enhanced the sustainability and efficiency of resource utilization. Prior to his current role, Verma served as Executive Director In-Charge (Works) at RSP, where he played a crucial role in improving production processes and operational performance.
