WhatsApp, the widely used messaging platform, is enhancing its AI capabilities with a new Meta AI widget. This feature, currently in testing, allows select beta users to interact with Meta AI directly from their home screen without opening the app.
Initially identified by WABetaInfo, the widget streamlines access to Meta AI by eliminating the need to navigate within WhatsApp. Users can ask questions, upload images, and activate the chatbot’s voice mode with ease. Additionally, the widget is adjustable, enabling users to customize its size to their preference. However, it is only available to those who already have access to Meta AI within WhatsApp.
Powered by Meta’s Llama large language model, this AI assistant can answer queries, generate images, and participate in both individual and group chats—similar to platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini. With millions already using Meta AI in WhatsApp, the introduction of this widget is expected to boost engagement even further.
WhatsApp has been rolling out several new features recently, including 22 preset chat themes, tap reactions, selfie stickers, and shareable sticker packs. As Meta continues to expand AI integration, the new widget is expected to enhance user convenience and interaction with AI tools.
