HealthEquity has announced the appointment of Sunil Seshadri as its Executive Vice President and Chief Security Officer, a strategic move to enhance the company’s security and fraud prevention capabilities. Sunil, a distinguished leader with over two decades of expertise in cybersecurity, brings a wealth of experience from his roles at some of the world’s largest financial services and technology organizations.
In his new position, Sunil will work closely with Scott Cutler and Team Purple to advance HealthEquity’s mission of saving and improving healthcare consumers’ lives. His leadership will focus on delivering robust security measures and implementing innovative strategies to protect the company’s operations in an increasingly complex threat landscape.
Sunil’s career is marked by transformative leadership in top-tier organizations. Most recently, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Wells Fargo Bank, where he was part of the company’s technology leadership team and management committee. He spearheaded the development and implementation of a comprehensive enterprise-wide security strategy, ensuring world-class protection for the bank’s assets, employees, and clients. Before Wells Fargo, Sunil was the CISO at Visa Inc., overseeing the cybersecurity framework and data protection.
Earlier in his career, Sunil held the CISO role at the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Group, NYSE, and Archipelago, where he designed and operated advanced security platforms to address high-pressure and high-risk challenges. His expertise spans areas such as identity and access management, data protection, incident response, product security, and compliance, making him a trusted and proven technical leader in the field.
Beyond his corporate roles, Sunil is deeply engaged with the cybersecurity industry as an advisor and board member. He serves as a Cybersecurity Advisor to Discover Financial Services, a Board Member at Obsidian Security, and an Advisory Board Member at Aqua Security and Acalvio Technologies. He is also an Industry Advisor to Warburg Pincus and a Limited Partner at leading venture capital firms Greylock and Ballistic Ventures.
Sunil’s leadership extends to building high-performing, diverse global teams and fostering a culture of innovation and inclusion. He has successfully developed and executed cybersecurity programs encompassing applied AI and data science, cloud and SaaS security, vulnerability management, and red team operations.
