JioStar has secured the media rights for the English Premier League (EPL) in India for the next three seasons, starting with the 2025-26 season, in a deal valued at $65 million. The contract marks a significant milestone for JioStar, further strengthening its position in the competitive sports broadcasting sector.
The newly merged entity of Star India and Viacom18, JioStar is backed by major stakeholders, including Reliance Industries, Walt Disney, and Bodhi Tree Systems. According to reports, the $65 million deal includes $54 million for the media rights and an additional $11 million allocated for marketing and promoting EPL events across India throughout the contract duration.
This acquisition further bolsters JioStar’s expanding portfolio in sports content, positioning it as a key player in the broadcasting landscape for the Indian market. With the EPL’s vast fanbase in India, the partnership is expected to drive substantial viewership and engagement, as well as enhance JioStar’s reach and influence in the sports entertainment industry.
