HSBC has announced the appointment of Selim Kervancı as its new CEO for the Middle East, pending regulatory approval. Currently serving as CEO of HSBC Türkiye, Kervancı brings over a decade of leadership experience within the MENAT Executive Committee. In his new role, he will report to Surendra Rosha and David Liao, Co-CEOs of Asia and the Middle East, as he leads HSBC’s strategic initiatives in the region.
The announcement comes alongside other significant leadership changes. Richard Blackburn has been named Interim Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, while Julian Wentzel will assume the position of Interim Group Chief Sustainability Officer following Celine Herweijer’s departure.
These appointments highlight HSBC’s commitment to bolstering leadership across critical regions and reinforcing its focus on sustainability and robust risk management frameworks. With Kervancı at the helm, the Middle East operations are poised for continued growth and alignment with the bank’s global strategies.
