Tata Power Partners with Noida International Airport for Renewable Energy Supply

Tata Power has signed a significant agreement with Noida International Airport (NIA) to provide renewable energy, marking a major step towards sustainable airport operations. Under the partnership, Tata Power will invest Rs 550 crore ($66 million) to establish solar and wind power units for the airport. Tata Power Trading Company Ltd (TPTCL) will manage the renewable energy portfolio and ensure the airport’s clean energy requirements are met through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). As part of this agreement, TPTCL will supply 10.8 MW of wind power, secured from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL).

In addition, TPREL will develop, operate, and maintain a 13 MW onsite solar power capacity, contributing to NIA’s energy needs. Tata Power will also provide essential electrical infrastructure, dry utilities, and operation and maintenance (O&M) services over a 25-year period. The initiative aligns with Tata Power’s commitment to providing clean energy solutions for the long term and supports the broader vision of Net Zero Airports in India.

This renewable energy collaboration is part of NIA’s efforts to create a sustainable airport infrastructure. The first phase of the airport, including one runway and terminal, will be capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, with plans for expansion to accommodate 70 million passengers per year upon completion of all development phases.

Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, expressed pride in the partnership, emphasizing Tata Power’s leadership in driving renewable energy integration as part of India’s green energy future. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of NIA, also highlighted the importance of sourcing over half of the airport’s energy needs from renewable sources, reinforcing NIA’s commitment to sustainability. The PPAs for wind and solar energy were signed in New Delhi in the presence of key officials from both companies.
