CERT-In and Mastercard India sign MoU for collaboration in cyber security to enhance India’s cyber-resilience in Financial Sector

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a Government organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has been designated as the national agency for incident response under Section 70B of the Information Technology Act, 2000. CERT-In has partnered with Mastercard to enhance cooperation and information sharing in cybersecurity related to the financial sector. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two entities, leveraging their collective expertise. They will collaborate on cybersecurity incident response, capacity building, sharing cyber threat intelligence specific to the financial sector, and advanced malware analysis.

Under this partnership, Mastercard and CERT-In will conduct training programs and workshops to build cyber capacity, discuss current market trends, and promote best practices for enhancing cybersecurity in financial sector organizations. Additionally, they will exchange cyber threat trends, technical information, threat intelligence, and vulnerability reports to bolster India’s financial sector information security.

“Cybersecurity is critically important, especially in the digital age, and the Government of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring the security of individuals on digital platforms. This partnership marks a significant milestone that will benefit not only the involved entities but also the general public,” stated Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce & Industry; and Electronics and Information Technology.

“Mastercard’s comprehensive security approach provides partners and customers with enhanced visibility into cyber risks and greater resilience through cutting-edge AI technology. We are excited to collaborate with CERT-In to strengthen India’s financial digital ecosystem, which has driven unprecedented growth in the country,” remarked Shri Gautam Aggarwal, Division President, South Asia at Mastercard.
