Fortinet, the global leader in cybersecurity driving the convergence of networking and security, has announced significant updates to its generative AI (GenAI) portfolio, introducing groundbreaking advancements in network and security operations. One of these updates includes the debut of the industry’s first generative AI Internet of Things (IoT) security assistant.
Recognizing the substantial skills gap in the cybersecurity sector, estimated at around 4 million workers, Fortinet’s GenAI aims to address this challenge by enhancing technical proficiency. FortiAI, Fortinet’s GenAI assistant, empowers security operations (SecOps) and network operations (NetOps) teams, enabling them to expedite network modifications, rapidly detect and respond to attacks, and bridge the industry’s talent gap through its intuitive user interface.
Since its launch in 2023, Fortinet has continued to improve GenAI features across the Fortinet Security Fabric. FortiManager now incorporates transformative GenAI capabilities, facilitating Day 0 and Day 1 network configuration and provisioning through GenAI-assisted scripting in CLI and Jinja. This innovative feature generates scripts based on conversational commands, accommodating users with varying levels of programming expertise. It includes a validation capability that reviews code for errors, enhancing code development efficiency and reliability.
FortiManager introduces the industry’s first GenAI IoT security assistant, featuring a conversational AI interface powered by FortiAI. This assistant aids in detecting and troubleshooting IoT vulnerabilities, enabling network security teams to assess vulnerabilities, analyze impacts, and receive actionable recommendations from FortiAI using natural language for proactive problem resolution.
Fortinet integrates FortiAI within FortiAnalyzer with new dictation capabilities, simplifying threat hunting and event analysis. Analysts can navigate extensive datasets efficiently, identifying and responding to potential threats promptly, thereby accelerating review and response cycles.
As AI technologies become increasingly integral to cybersecurity, Fortinet emphasizes securing AI processes and ensuring data privacy. To address these concerns, Fortinet hosts AI proxy servers within its data centers, proxying all AI connections to optimize AI performance and enhance customer data security across all products.
Fortinet’s latest AI innovation, FortiAI, delivers context-aware GenAI assistance to aid SecOps and NetOps teams in making informed decisions swiftly. Supporting over 30 languages, FortiAI helps organizations navigate the cybersecurity skills gap while mitigating risks and streamlining business operations. Initially integrated with FortiSIEM and FortiSOAR, FortiAI is now integrated with FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager, with additional integrations planned to extend GenAI capabilities across the Fortinet Security Fabric.
