Meta has acknowledged the challenges within its social media platforms and is actively engaged in resolving them.
“We acknowledge that individuals are encountering difficulties accessing our services. We are actively addressing this matter,” stated Meta spokesperson Andy Stone in a recent communication on X social media.
Stone later confirmed the resolution of the issue, stating, “Earlier today, a technical glitch hindered access to some of our services. We swiftly resolved the issue for all affected users and extend our apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
Currently, Meta is grappling with widespread outages, resulting in disruptions across global platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Messenger.
According to Downdetector, a website monitoring service, there have been over 500,000 outages reported for Facebook and more than 88,000 for Instagram globally.
A user on X commented, “Facebook (162,985 engineers): currently down. Twitter (184 engineers gathered around an open laptop that acts as our primary server): not down.” Musk responded cryptically, saying, “To be fair, we do overclock the open laptop and also use it for warmth.”
Elon Musk, the owner of social platform X (formerly Twitter), trolled Meta over the outage. “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working,” he posted on X.
