Sridhar Ramaswamy, an Indian-origin computer scientist, has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Snowflake, a US-based data cloud company, succeeding Frank Slootman. With this appointment, Ramaswamy joins the ranks of Indian-origin CEOs leading global firms.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Ramaswamy shared his sentiments on LinkedIn, stating, “I am honoured and beyond excited as we start a new phase of the Snowflake journey together. Snowflake is a once-in-a-generation company and a truly special place. I love our customer-first obsession to deliver a tightly integrated and efficient platform. I am excited by the expansiveness of our vision around a true Data Cloud: where data and applications come together for our customers and our developer partners.”
He further added, “And I can’t wait to show customers the massive business value we can deliver together with AI.”
Ramaswamy takes over the position of CEO from Frank Slootman, who has served in this capacity since April 2019 and will now transition into retirement while continuing to serve as the Chairman of the Board. Effective immediately, Ramaswamy also assumes a seat on the Board of Directors.
